DockSnipe watches Facebook Marketplace for boats and sends you a Telegram alert when one worth chasing appears. This page explains exactly what that involves for your data, including the parts we deliberately never touch.

1. Introduction

DockSnipe ("we", "our", "us") operates docksnipe.com, the DockSnipe browser extension, and the @DockSnipeBot Telegram bot. By using any of them you agree to the handling described here.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

  • Telegram identifiers. When you pair the bot we store your Telegram user ID, chat ID and username, so we know where to send your alerts.
  • Your hunts. The search criteria you configure: boat segment, length, price range, engine preferences, location and radius.
  • Contact details you send us by email for support.
  • Billing identifiers. Subscriptions are handled by Stripe. We receive a customer ID and subscription status. We never receive or store your card number.

Information collected automatically

  • Extension status. The extension reports whether it is running and reachable, so we can tell you if your monitoring has stopped. This carries no browsing data.
  • Alert records. Which alerts we sent you and when, so the same boat is not sent twice and so support can reconstruct a problem.
  • Standard server logs from our web host and our CDN, including IP address and user agent, kept for security and abuse prevention.

3. What we never see

  • Your Facebook password. The extension runs inside your own browser, on the session you are already signed into. Your credentials are never sent to us and we could not use them if they were.
  • Your Facebook activity. We do not receive your messages, friends, feed, or anything you browse outside the public Marketplace listing pages your hunts match.
  • Your card details. Those go directly to Stripe.

4. How we use it

  • To find listings matching your hunts and deliver alerts to your Telegram chat.
  • To run your subscription and entitlements.
  • To notice when your monitoring has stopped and tell you.
  • To answer support requests.
  • To send service notices, for example a required extension update.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

5. Who else processes it

We do not share your personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else for marketing.

6. Listing data

DockSnipe keeps a record of the public boat listings it sees: the asking price, the description text we parse for engine, trailer and title facts, when the listing appeared, when the price changed, and when it disappeared.

This is what makes price-drop alerts and days-on-market context possible, and it is how the deal reads get more accurate over time. This record is about listings, not about you. It is not linked to your account beyond the alert log described above, and it contains only what any Marketplace visitor can see.

7. Storage and security

Account data and hunts are stored on servers we control, and everything in transit between the extension, our servers and Telegram uses TLS. Access is limited to what is needed to run the service.

No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach ever affects your data we will tell you.

8. How long we keep it

  • Active accounts: for as long as the account exists.
  • Cancelled accounts: up to 90 days, in case you come back, then deleted.
  • Alert records: 30 days, then deleted.
  • Listing records: kept as market history, with no link to any individual account.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to some processing. Email [email protected] and we will action a verified request within 30 days.

You can stop everything at any time by unpairing the bot, disabling the extension and cancelling your subscription.

10. Cookies and analytics

docksnipe.com does not run advertising or analytics trackers, and sets no marketing cookies. Our CDN may set a cookie strictly for security and performance.

If we add analytics later we will update this section and the date at the top before it goes live.

11. Children's privacy

DockSnipe is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and, for anything significant, tell you through the bot or by email.

13. Contact

Questions, requests or complaints: [email protected].
